The Newmarket Pony Academy provides an opportunity for young people in Newmarket affordable access to learn to ride or look after horses. Set up as a community school’s project and based at The British Racing School, the initiative uses horses and ponies to positively affect mental heath and wellbeing for children. Since its launch in 2021, it has seen over 500 school children being referred through their school to participate in this programme. The scheme has been hugely successful in building confidence, self-esteem, teamwork and resilience. Alongside supporting elements of the national curriculum.
