Do you have a special memory of Queen Elizabeth II? Local people, communities and organisations across Newmarket are being invited to share their memories and stories as part of a unique digital memorial.
The Queen Elizabeth Digital Memorial is a new website created to map key moments from the life and reign of Britain’s longest-serving monarch, creating a permanent record for future generations.
During her more than 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II met and touched the lives of thousands of people across the UK and around the world. With her close association with British horseracing, Newmarket was particularly fortunate to welcome Her Majesty on many occasions, both privately and publicly.
We are encouraging as many people as possible in Newmarket to share their memories by submitting them to the Queen Elizabeth Digital Memorial.
You don’t have to have met the Queen to take part. You could share a memory of seeing her in Newmarket, attending a royal occasion, watching her on television, celebrating a Jubilee or simply recalling what she meant to you, your family or your community.
Every memory submitted helps make the memorial richer and more representative of Queen Elizabeth II’s global legacy, while creating a unique historical record for future generations.
