Tourism hub and official tour guide for the Home of Horseracing, Discover Newmarket has today announced a new partnership with Europe’s leading racehorse ownership company, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.
Discover Newmarket brings the sport of kings to a wider audience through a range of world-class and exclusive tours that take the public behind the scenes of the headquarters of thoroughbred breeding, racing and training.
With many tour visitors expressing an interest in racehorse ownership, Discover Newmarket, which has experienced growth in the last 12 months, has found a way to expand on its offering and be able to direct likeminded individuals towards potential ownership opportunities through a positive and engaging partnership.
Highclere Thoroughbred Racing specialises in putting select groups of race-going individuals together in a syndicate where they each own a share of a racehorse. This way they can enjoy the sport at the highest level, while sharing the costs which are often seen as prohibitive.
With a range of top trainers employed by Highclere across the country, seven of which are based in the heart of Newmarket itself, syndicate members are assured that their horses are given the best possible opportunities for success.
The seven Newmarket-based trainers currently utilized by Highclere include current champion trainer John Gosden, Sir Michael Stoute, Hugo Palmer, Roger Varian, Michael Bell, William Haggas, and Simon Crisford.
Being part of a syndicate allows individuals to see their racehorses develop and mature, from the Yearling Parades, held annually at Highclere Stud in the grounds of Highclere Castle, and throughout the year on regular visits to the various training facilities. Highclere aim to not only manage a syndicate’s bloodstock professionally, to maximise the horses’ potential, but to ensure that every owner enjoys each element of racehorse ownership.
Manager of Discover Newmarket, Megan Pollexfen said:
“It’s with great pleasure that we at Discover Newmarket can announce our partnership with one of the leading racehorse ownership businesses in Europe, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing. Discover Newmarket is heading into its fifth year of operation and has been delivering top tours behind the scenes at stakeholders and attractions across the town.
“Whilst delivering these tours we were struck with how much people wanted to be more involved with the sport and how they could own a stake in a thoroughbred racehorse. Thanks to our new partnership with Highclere, we’re so excited to be able to widen our offering to visitors as well as those within the town and cannot wait to see some of the winners from these new syndicates in the future.”
Harry Herbert, Chairman and Managing Director of Highclere :
“All of us at Highclere are very much looking forward to working with Megan and her team at Discover Newmarket in the hope that we can encourage new owners into the sport”
