A message from Noel Byrne, Chair of Discover Newmarket:
Following the royal communication from Buckingham Palace announcing the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, I wanted to share our deepest condolences with the royal family and all those around the world that find this news saddening.
Queen Elizabeth II holds a particularly special place in Newmarket’s heart. She had a passion for horseracing and often visited the town to see her horses in training. In honour of Her Majesty’s many visits to the town and love of horseracing, a beautiful commemorative statue is positioned near The Rowley Mile Racecourse.
The Queen recently celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 exceptional years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. This remarkable anniversary was celebrated across the country and around the world, bringing communities together. While we all come together to mourn the loss of our Queen, it gives time to reflect on her incredible life and service to her country.
