We’ve got a new face in the Discover Newmarket office with Nick Gordon having joined the team in his role as Marketing Executive.
With a strong communications background having written for one of South Africa’s leading daily newspapers for several years, Nick now calls Newmarket home. Before relocating from Johannesburg, Nick worked in a public relations and communications role within horseracing, picking up brand and marketing experience along the way.
“I am thrilled to have joined the Discover Newmarket team and I am excited by the challenge that awaits to keep up the good work that’s already been done and building on that platform to make Discover Newmarket stand out as a brand and spreading the message about who we are and what we offer.”
Among his favourite things to do in Newmarket is stopping in at Tattersalls whenever there’s a sale on. “There’s something electric about the atmosphere in the sales ring and being able to soak it all up is fantastic. It’s always interesting to see how the world’s leading bloodstock players go about their business and then battle it out to secure their purchases.
“I think that’s why I count the Tattersalls Tour as a must-do attraction for visitors,” Nick, who hails from a racing family with a jockey father and trainer uncle, adds.
As a keen racing follower, he’s always kept an eye on British racing, being able to experience life in Newmarket and all that the historic Home of Horseracing has to offer has been a big eye-opener and thrill.
“Being able to work in racing here, in any sort of capacity, has been a life goal and I’m chuffed to be in a position where I can use some of my strengths to contribute,” said Nick.
Away from work life Nick is an avid but average golfer. He also enjoys photography, walking his dogs on Warren Hill, working on his blog, and travelling.
