We would like to introduce you to the newest member of the Discover Newmarket team, Megan Polexfen, who has joined us as Sales & Marketing Coordinator.
Megan is a Newmarket resident and loves the town she calls home. Couple this with a keen interest in the equine industry and it’s easy to see why she was attracted to the role. “I enjoy business development and customer management, so to be able to do all of that working within an Industry and town I am passionate about was just a no brainer!” explains Megan. And she can’t wait to get stuck in as part of the Discover Newmarket team, saying: “I’m really looking forward to working closely with Racing and Thoroughbred Industry leaders and the Newmarket community to show off our unique heritage and develop the town.”
Her connection to horses continues outside the office where she is a keen polo player. Her hobby has seen her travel as far as South America, having just returned from a trip to Argentina playing the sport. But when not competing, she can most often be found on the coast with her beloved dog, Percy!
Megan loves to socialise, be it a tasty Italian restaurant or a drink at her local pub, however, if she really wants to relax, there is no place like home at this time of year! “My favourite place to relax is at home, snuggled up in front of the fire with a hot chocolate and a good film!” she laughs.
When asked what her favourite experience of Newmarket was there was no doubt: “The Newmarket Racecourse meeting when Frankie Dettori reached his 3,000 wins! The atmosphere that day was electric!” she beams before summing up Newmarket in four words: “Exciting, horsey, unique and historical” – and we couldn’t agree more!
