Discover the sights and stories and go behind-the-scenes of Newmarket, the Home of Horseracing, on this action-packed tour. From the famous Warren Hill gallops and a working racing yard to The National Stud, you’ll get a fascinating insight into the people, places and horses that make Newmarket unique.

What to Expect

8.00am – Meet your Tour Guide

Meet your expert guide at the National Horseracing Museum before boarding the tour bus for a morning exploring the Home of Horseracing.

8.10am – Visit the Famous Warren Hill Gallops

Head to the historic Warren Hill training grounds, where you’ll see some of Newmarket’s equine residents going about their daily exercise. Learn about the history of the gallops, how they came to be and their importance to racing today.

9.00am – Go Behind the Scenes at a Newmarket Racing Yard

Get a fascinating insight into life at a working racing yard. See the daily routines and facilities, and learn what goes into preparing a racehorse for the track. As we always say, you never know who you will see, equine or human, on a Discover Newmarket Tour!

10.00am – Morning Coffee

Take a break at the Heath Court Hotel, situated at the foot of Warren Hill, for morning coffee.

10.30am – Visit the National Stud

Enjoy a guided tour of The National Stud and discover its history, development and role in the thoroughbred industry today. See some of the impressive stallions currently resident at the 500-acre stud, including Stradivarius and Bradsell, and meet mares and foals, including the newest arrivals. You may also be lucky enough to meet retired National Hunt legends Lord Windermere and The Tin Man.

12.00pm – Return to the National Horseracing Museum

Return to the Museum, where you’ll receive a £6 lunch voucher to redeem at The Tack Room.

After lunch, enjoy the Museum at your leisure until closing time – 5pm (4pm in winter).

Meet the horses, experience the racehorse simulator, explore an outstanding collection of British sporting art and discover more about the fascinating history of horseracing.

Please Note

Tours depart promptly at the scheduled start time, so please arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before departure.

Looking for a Private Tour?

The Ultimate Newmarket Experience is also available as a private tour on selected dates, excluding Sundays and Mondays.

Private tours are based on a minimum of two adults and are available for an additional £60 per booking for a private tour guide.
