The first ever Cambridgeshire County Day, taking place on Thursday 23 June 2022 at the July Race Course, Newmarket, will showcase the very best from the Cambridgeshire business, charity, community and public sectors. The Day will seek to inspire future generations with an unrivalled display of innovation, ambition, commitment and passion to encourage them to be the best they can be and connect them with opportunities to help them, while also showcasing key achievements in Cambridgeshire during the 70 years of HM The Queen’s reign.
Cambridgeshire County Day will also raise money to support the new world-leading Cambridge-based Regional Children’s Hospital and the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund. Cambridgeshire County Day will feature an exhibition providing a great opportunity to highlight history and achievements; opportunities to network; hospitality; demonstrations, music and theatre performances; a Garden Party; and an exciting day of racing, among other exciting activities for all to get involved with.
The public will have a number of opportunities to donate funds to the Cambridge Children’s Hospital Campaign and Cambridgeshire Community Foundation’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund, if they wish, during the day and can also donate via JustGiving now and in the lead up to the event. Companies taking part in Cambridgeshire County Day are supporting a wide range of charitable causes as part of the once-in-a-lifetime event, including: raising valuable funds for the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital and Cambridgeshire Community Foundation’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund and boosting the profile of local charities and not-for-profit organisations.
In addition to raising money for the two chosen charities, Cambridgeshire County Day will also provide a valuable platform for other local charities and non-for-profit organisations to raise awareness of their missions amongst the 6,000 members of the public, and 100 leading local businesses, anticipated to attend the day.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chris Parkhouse, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, says: “Cambridgeshire County Day provides an unmissable opportunity for the county’s diverse and vibrant community to come together and get inspired by the best of Cambridgeshire businesses, charities and public sector organisations. With so many incredible people and organisations set to attend, we anticipate a wonderful day brimming with learning and inspiration, all while raising vital funds for the Cambridge Children’s Hospital Campaign and Cambridgeshire Community Foundation’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund, which has been established to support those with less means to fully take part in county life.”
In addition to the Best of Cambridgeshire Showcase, Cambridgeshire County Day will feature a variety of live performances and numerous static displays including tractors, diggers and emergency/military vehicles, all alongside a full day’s horse racing on the July Course.
