Going, going, gone! Discover Newmarket is pleased to announce the return of their behind-the-scenes tours at both the Rowley Mile and July Racecourses as well as Tattersalls. Dates have now been released and are bookable online.
An exclusive peep behind the scenes at Newmarket Racecourses and the chance to watch the bidding at Tattersalls, Europe’s leading bloodstock auctioneers, are now possible on three returning day-long experiences from Discover Newmarket.
The “Behind The Scenes Racecourse Tour” is ideal for horse and racing enthusiasts who have already bought their race tickets. The hour-long tour adds the experience of visiting the Commentary Box and Royal Box to a thrilling afternoon of sport. Discover Newmarket’s expert guides will tell entertaining tales from Newmarket’s history and give tips for casual racegoers on how to read a race card, spot a winner and place a bet.
The “Newmarket Race Day Tour” is the ultimate day out at the races, including admission to the Premier Enclosure and an hour-long tour that visits the Commentary Box and Royal Box, plus offers the chance to rub shoulders with owners, trainers and jockeys inside the Parade Ring (above right).
The Tattersalls Tour is a fascinating day out that culminates in the exciting experience of watching royals, millionaires, and celebrities buy and sell the world’s greatest future racehorses in the famous auction ring (above, centre). After a guided tour taking in the Newmarket Gallops, a busy trainer’s yard, and the National Horseracing Museum, visitors will head behind the scenes at Tattersalls and then take their seats as the bidding begins.
The “Behind The Scenes” tour costs £15 per person and the “Race Day” tour costs £45 per person (both maximum 10 people). The “Tattersalls Tour” costs £105 per person (maximum eight people). Tours are available on selected dates from August to October and can be booked via the website or by calling 01638 501122.
Discover Newmarket also offers a variety of other tours, too, including two that are new for 2021, “On The Trail of Dick Francis” (£25) and “Newmarket’s Racing Royalty Tour” (£25). To create a short break, hotel, B&B and self-catering options are available at https://discovernewmarket.co.uk/stay.
