This year’s highly anticipated QIPCO Guineas Festival returns on Saturday, 6th and Sunday, 7th May for show-stopping entertainment, fantastic hospitality, and some of the best Flat racing in the world, including the first two British Classic races of the year, the QIPCO 2000 Guineas and the QIPCO 1000 Guineas.
This two-day event features some of the finest Thoroughbreds in the world going head to head in some of the most highly contended races in the sport. The feature race on Saturday, 6th May is The QIPCO 2000 Guineas, one of Newmarket’s Group 1 races open to three-year-old colts which includes an unmissable roll of honour including the exceptional Frankel.
Alongside unforgettable racing, there will be plenty of entertainment to keep the crowds busy. Two legendary exhibitions will be held at The Rowley Mile Racecourse during the Festival. The first is a temporary exhibition celebrating five decades of internationally acclaimed sports photographer, Chris Smith’s iconic work. Named the Gods of Sport, the exhibition includes over 50 photographs of sporting legends including Lester Piggott, Sir Henry Cecil, Muhammad Ali and George Best, to name a few. This exhibition will be located on the lawn in front of the Millennium Grandstand. The second exhibition space will be at The Eclipse Lawn, featuring select pieces from some of the UK’s most exciting sculptors.
The Hyperion Lawn will be a brand-new hotspot for entertainment and socialising this year. There will be music and live entertainment throughout the day and into the evening. Festival Ambassador, Radio X and broadcasting legend, Johnny Vaughan will take to the decks after racing on the Saturday, where he will headline the season opener of Après Racing, Newmarket’s official after party.
For families and younger racegoers, there’s plenty of activities to enjoy at the new Pony Club Zone on the Boulevard Lawn. There will be a Jockey School where kids can learn to race like Frankie Detorri, meet a real Racehorse and try equipment and silks with assistance from expert Jockey Coaches. There will also be farriery demonstrations, Pony Club Mini Cinema, inflatable slides, bouncy castles, bungee run, face painting and more!
To make the day extra special, there’s a number of exclusive hospitality packages to enjoy. The Winning Post Pavilion will return to the Festival and will once again provide exceptional views of the course, a fantastic atmosphere and incredible cuisine. 2015 Great British Bake Off finalist, Ian Cumming will be providing Winning Post Pavilion guests with a signature Afternoon Tea on Saturday, 6th May, featuring a selection of special cakes, sandwiches and Ian’s award-winning carrot cake. On Sunday, 7th May, guests will be offered a choice of meats from a delicious Sunday Roast Carvery.
On top of the Winning Post Pavilion, the Chez Roux Dining Experience will return, a premium hospitality experience with Albert Roux. You will be wined and dined at the Champions Gallery, with panoramic views overlooking the race track and be served a Michelin-starred menu featuring an amuse-bouche, four-course lunch menu and Afternoon Tea.
