Here’s the first National Stud Stallion Profile, focusing on the fantastic Gregorian!
Gregorian was very well supported in his first year at stud, with over 100 mares in foal, and we are looking forward to welcoming his first foals in 2016.
An outstanding sprinter miler; he won 6 races and £434,919 in his racing career, placing in the July Cup and Queen Anne Stakes among others. Gregorian is the highest rated son of Group 1 sire Clodovil and a full brother to 1,000 Guineas placed Manderley (now in foal to Galileo).
Gregorian’s damsire is Cadeaux Genereux, therefore he shares close blood nicks with retired National Stud stalwart Bahamian Bounty. From one of the toughest and most honest families in the book, with the likes of Premio Loco and Crazee Mental all up close in his pedigree, it’s easy to see why Gregorian has such strong appeal to breeders.
He had a fantastic first season and no wonder, as his breeder Maurice Burns describes him, “Gregorian is a beautiful horse. He is big, strong and correct with good bone and a great walk. He showed speed and class throughout his career and is just the type of horse we all love to breed.”
His quality first book included high class mares such as Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks heroine Super Tassa and a half sister to one of 2015’s leading lights, Illuminate.
