Camilla Perrett has been appointed as the new Chair of Discover Newmarket, the not-for-profit organisation at the heart of British horseracing. Camilla succeeds Noel Byrne, who steps down after ten years as Chair, having founded Discover Newmarket and led the organisation through a decade of growth, firmly establishing it as a key driver of tourism and championing Newmarket as the Home of Horseracing.
Camilla is Head of Client Relations and Marketing at Great British Racing International (GBRI), the industry body responsible for guiding and growing global investment into British horseracing. GBRI works with international owners and investors, providing expert guidance, bespoke support and access to Britain’s world-leading racing and breeding networks.
Since joining GBRI in 2019, Camilla has played a key role in delivering the organisation’s international strategy, overseeing client relations, events and marketing activity. She works closely with a broad range of industry stakeholders, promoting British racing on the global stage and supporting sustained international engagement with the sport.
Alongside her continuing role at Great British Racing International, Camilla will, as Chair of Discover Newmarket, bring strong industry insight, international perspective and established stakeholder relationships to the organisation as it continues to develop Newmarket’s tourism offering and promote the town’s unique racing heritage.
Tracey Harding, Chief Executive of Discover Newmarket says: ‘We are delighted to welcome Camilla to the board and are confident that she will provide fresh insight and a wealth of relevant experience to the development of our tourism programme. We owe outgoing Chair Noel Byrne a huge debt of gratitude. Noel led the strategic direction of Discover Newmarket Steering Group for over a decade, and was instrumental in delivering a number of wide-reaching initiatives which brought an increased number of visitors into the town’.
