Summer at Newmarket’s July Course has now come to an end, and what an amazing season it was! We not only saw some thrilling racing, but we also saw fantastic performances from some hugely talented artists at Newmarket Nights, as well as brilliant family fun days. However, now it is time to look forward to the highly anticipated Newmarket Gold Season at the Rowley Mile Racecourse!
Below, we have provided a run down of all the racing action that is due to take place between now and November so you can make sure you know exactly where to be and when in order to catch the best of the action this Newmarket Gold Season.
The Betfred Cesarewitch Trial Day kicks off the Newmarket Gold Season on the the 23rd September. Exciting racing will take place on track as the Trainers Commentary Competition brings a host of entertainment on course. Hear six racehorse trainers take on the task of commentating in aid of the 32Red Newmarket Open Weekend charities. This year see top trainers go head to head as Team Newmarket take on Team Lambourn.
Real ales and top racing are the order of this three-day Meeting, with a side of quality music and entertainment too. The Newmarket Real Ale Festival takes place across all three days, offering dozens of real ales and ciders for racegoers to sample. Shadwell Day on the Friday features two Group 2 races as well as serious competitions in the Shetland Pony Grand National Team Flat Race!
Juddmonte Day on the Saturday sees two Group 1 races and the amazing spectacle that is the famous Betfred Cambridgeshire Heritage Handicap, where 30 horses thunder up the Rowley Mile. Saturday also offers a fantastic day out for families with free entertainment in the Family Enclosure.
Offering excellent horseracing during the Book 1 and 2nd October Yearling Sales at prestigious Bloodstock auctioneers, Tattersalls, Newmarket is abuzz with excitement. See top racing at this meeting, perfect for racing enthusiasts, families, colleagues and friends.
The highlight of the Newmarket Gold Season returns this October with the two-day Dubai Future Champions Festival. Combining world-class juvenile racing with amazing entertainment, this Festival is not to be missed.
Friday is Newmarket’s annual Ladies Day and features The Style Awards sponsored by The Spa at Bedford Lodge, where female racegoers are asked to put their most fashionable feet forward and dress to impress for their chance to win great prizes in this free to enter, on-course competition. On the track, racegoers will witness the Group 1 feature, the Fillies Mile, and after racing the fun continues into the evening with Newmarket’s official after party, après racing!
The Pony Racing Finals kick off proceedings on the Saturday with young jockeys aged 9 – 15 taking to the track. The Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes, Britain’s most prestigious race for juvenile horses, will take centre stage as the feature race of the day but don’t miss out on another highlight of the day, ‘the Grand National of the flat’, the Autumn Double.
DJ and TV presenter, Vernon Kay will be on hand on Saturday to take to the stage and get racegoers up and dancing after the racing has finished.
Enjoy an autumnal afternoon of racing at the Rowley Mile on the last mid-week fixture for 2017 with the Two Year Old Day. It’s all about those younger racehorses gaining valuable experience on the track before next season, so offers the perfect platform to see who’s showing form for 2018.
The final two days of the season at Newmarket Racecourses offer 14 exciting races as well as fantastic family fun in the lead up to Christmas. With free activities from Rowley’s Kids Club, including face painting and craft activities, the Racecourse will be celebrating ‘Elfmas’!
