A Newmarket Nights playlist

19/03/2019

Last week we welcomed Teagan, a student at West Suffolk College, into our offices as part of her work experience. Teagan spent the majority of the week with the team at Newmarket Racecourse before coming to learn a bit more about Discover Newmarket. We asked Teagan if she wanted to put together a guest blog and here it is: A Newmarket Nights Playlist to get you in the mood for the good times we’re set to have at the races this coming season!

“We are really looking forward to the Newmarket Nights this year with such an exciting line up of acts! Here’s a playlist of the artists for this year guaranteed to get you ready and excited for some brilliant racing followed by amazing music performances. Turn up the volume, sit back and enjoy a taste of what’s to come!”

Nile Rogers & CHIC make a welcome return

Returning again from last year’s amazing performance, Nile Rodgers and Chic perform for Summer Saturday Live on the 8th June. With huge hits including ‘Le Freak’ and ‘Good Times’ it’s bound to be a great night! This went down as one of the best acts from last year and due to popular demand will see the hitmakers feature at the July Course for what promises to be a very festive Saturday night.

It’s Going to be Madness!

One of the best loved British bands with hits such as ‘It Must Be Love’, ‘Baggy Trousers’ and ‘Driving In My Car’, Madness are headlining on the 21st June for what will be a wonderful evening! Enjoy this live version of ‘It Must Be Love’ performed live on BBC One on New Year’s Eve in 2018.

Kicking it to Kaiser Chiefs

Returning to the racecourse for the first time since 2016, the Kaiser Chiefs are with us on the 28th June. With their major track ‘I Predict A Riot’ it’s going to be a popular one! The music video for this song has had nearly 11-million views on YouTube!  Did you know that Kaiser Chiefs drew inspiration for their band name from footballer Lucas Radebe who captained the band’s beloved Leeds United. Radebe, a South African international, had previously played for the renowned team Kaiser Chiefs in his home country.

Let’s Go Rudimental!

Rudimental are headlining  for the summer on the 26th July. Their huge collaborations with artists including Jess Glynne, James Arthur and Ella Eyre have seen them surge up the charts and become household names. Their smash hits will make it an incredible night! With a new album this exciting group will have Newmarket Racecourse dancing the night away during their DJ set.

It’s All Gone Pete Tong!

We mean that in the best way possible as this act is an incredible addition to the Newmarket Nights roll of honour. To get you in that feel-good mood, Pete Tong will be performing Ibiza Classics with The Heritage Orchestra on the 2nd August. The perfect night for catching those summer feels! This incredible performance is a must-see live experience. Here’s a taster from when the Royal Albert Hall played host to this epic show.

Bopping to Banarama

With top hits including ‘Venus’ and ‘Cruel Summer’, the iconic group Banarama will be performing at the July Course on the 9th August. One of the most successful female bands worldwide- you don’t want to miss out! Hit after hit on the charts saw Banarama listed in the Guinness World Records as the all-female group with the most chart entries in the world. Between 1982 and 2009, they had 28 singles reach the Top 50 of the UK Singles Chart.

Years & Years of memories to be made

Years and Years are headlining on the 16th August. With major songs such as ‘King’, ‘Desire’ and ‘Shine’- it’s going to be a good one! This band’s debut album smashed the charts when released in 2015 and they’ve not looked back since. Their smash hit ‘King’ has amassed a whopping 200-million views on YouTube
