Rev up at WildTracks
All week
Calling all petrolheads aged 8+. Put your foot down at WildTracks outdoor activity park. Try the see-saw on the Junior Quad Bike track. Or take a corner in a 160cc cadet kart. You can practice your sharp-shooting skills, too, with archery, air guns, crossbows and other country sports to try. And if you haven’t quite reached your eighth birthday yet, no worries, explore the new Stay & Play area that has just opened. More info here.

Come and meet the last of the Pagan Anglo Saxon Kings at West Stow Anglo Saxon Village and Country Park
27th to 29th May
The Children of Loki descend upon the village of West Stow once again. Hear sagas of old told in the hall, witness a pagan burial like the one at Sutton Hoo, see crafts, play period games, hear music from that age and most of all pay homage to King Penda who recently defeated the Kings of East Anglia. More info here.
Join the birthday bash at the National Horseracing Museum
30 May & 1 June
The National Horse Racing Museum turns 40 this half-term and it’s celebrating with some special activities during the school holidays. Families are invited to come along to their Fabulous at Forty creative workshops, which are suitable for all ages. Make and decorate a birthday card, mix tape cover or horse puppet inspired by the popular My Little Pony range of children’s toys from the 1980s using collage and neon paint techniques. Or decorate your own canvas tote bag inspired by some of the museum’s founding objects. You can join in these sessions as part of the entrance price – and remember, the ticket lasts for 12 months. More info here.
Step back in time at Burwell Museum
1 & 4 June
Schools out? Well, not quite at Burwell Museum & Windmill, where you can compare the old schoolroom and the school bus with your own experience. There’s a chance to climb up to inspect the sails of the windmill and see how they turn and to grind flour by hand. Plus, there are trails to follow around this historic fenland village and, just for the holidays, local crafts to try out, too. More info here.
Pump up the Jam at Phoenix Cycleworks
3 June
Still got some energy, ride it off at Phoenix Cycleworks June Jam on the final Saturday of the holidays. This taster ride day will feature mini competitions, with a few frills on the side including a BBQ and Tipi Bar. With tickets available for young and old(er), there’s no excuse for the adults to sit on the sidelines. Bring your bikes – and helmets, of course – or hire them, and put your skills to the test on the special bike trails and areas that have been designed for all abilities. If you get a taste for it, check out the regular coaching sessions. More info here.
