Gavin Moody has 25 years’ experience as a farrier and has worked with some of racing’s most prestigious yards. Join us on Saturday, 24th July as he demonstrates the art of making horseshoes. International jockey Jimmy Quinn is kindly lending Gavin his horse so that he can show us how to fit those shoes onto all four feet of Star! If you’ve ever wondered about the skill that’s required to make and fit horseshoes, or you’re interested in pursuing a career as a farrier, come along and have a chat with Gavin about the ancient craft of farriery.
Why not make a day of it and pre-order a picnic from The Bakery to eat in our beautiful grounds, or book a table at The Tack Room for lunch? The demonstration will take place from 10am – 1pm and is included in your cost of the general museum admission price.
