Join us in Ely Cathedral over the Coronation Bank Holiday weekend, to mark this momentous occasion in history.
Friday 5 – Monday 8 May
Ely’s famous Octagon Tower will be lit red, white, and blue, and bunting will adorn the main entrance. A magnificent flower exhibit, in the shape of the Coronation emblem, will be on display as a tribute to the new King and Queen.
Saturday 6 May – Coronation Day
Everyone is invited to gather in the Cathedral free of charge, to watch the BBC coverage of the Coronation on a large screen, with free refreshments. (This has been made possible thanks to funding from the Combined Authority via a grant from the DCMS).
Directly following the broadcast, there will be a Coronation Tea Party in the Lady Chapel organised by Ely Community Lunches. (Ticketed Event)
Sunday 7 May, 4.30pm
Everyone is welcome to a special Service of Thanksgiving for the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. In addition to the National Anthem, the Cathedral Choir will sing Handel’s Coronation Anthem and Sir Charles Parry’s, I was glad.
