It does not matter what time of year you head to The National Stud, it’s always so pretty and tranquil. While we’d hate to admit it, our glorious summer is ending. The jumpers are out and everyone’s gone back to school. But that’s no reason to be glum. At this time of the year, the Discover Newmarket tours of the property take place Wednesday to Friday at 11.15am and then twice daily on the weekends at 11.15am and 2pm.
That means the family can still enjoy a great day out. The National Stud Tours will also be running during the half-term break as well for those already planning their days out during this time.
In a bid to make the tours more interactive, we’ve introduced the Family Quiz. Keep an eye out for clues and titbits of information as you work your way through The National Stud Tour with our experienced and fantastic guides. Can you answer all the questions correctly?
The National Stud is currently home to a number of mares and foals from the Southern Hemisphere and they’d love to meet you! Keeping a close eye on the numbers you spot is important for the quiz so be sure to keep an eye out for them as you stand at the paddocks. These mares are all due to visit stallions in the area at some stage over the next few weeks before travelling back home.
After you’ve gone on a tour of The National Stud you can unwind in the Wavertree Coffee Shop. Sit back and sip tea and enjoy a decadent slice of fresh cake while the kids run around and burn off some energy on the pull tractors on the lawn.
With a new menu on offer, the Wavertree Coffee Shop also offers a selection light bites for lunch as well as a great spread for breakfast.
