It’s that time of year when the ghosties come out and things go bump in the night. But to truly get in the spirit of the occasion head to Newmarket and the surrounding area where there will be some seriously spooky goings-on this Halloween.
You’ll all get the chills at the National Horse Racing Museum’s Family Fright Night on 27th October. There’ll be magical owls to meet, fang-tastic crafts to make, and the chance to snap a selfie with a Headless Horseman. The dress code is ‘gruesome’ – with prizes for the most ghoulish look. Plus, there’s a Creative Halloween drop-in craft workshop for little ones on 25th October. Family Fright Night tickets cost £6 adults, £3 children, under-5s go free. Creative Halloween is free with museum admission. Go to www.nhrm.co.uk.
The team at Wild Tracks are keeping their Halloween secrets up their sleeves for now. But if you book the special half-term package of 30 minutes karting and 15 minutes quad biking between 23rd and 27th October there will be no escaping the terrifying sideshows and attractions they’re planning to reveal. Price £63, book by phone. Go to www.wildtracksltd.co.uk.
We’re going on a ghost hunt at Mildenhall Museum between 21st and 31st October. There will be seven Halloween-themed questions to answer with clues to track down the apparitions in the museum’s seven galleries who hold the answers. Get them all right and claim a glow wand for your prize. Tickets £1. Go to https://mildenhallmuseum.co.uk.
They’re putting on the frighteners at Phoenix Cycleworks on 27th October. So dust off your best zombie suit because when night falls the park’s 2.6km Cross Country Lap will be transformed into a Scare Trail. With some hair-raising obstacles along the way, you’ll be pedalling for your life. Tickets from £15. Go towww.phoenixcycleworks.co.uk.
Halloween isn’t just child’s play, there’s prosecco and painting on the menu at The Graze Kitchen on 28th October. The restaurant will host a special artist-led event by PopUp Painting with Edvard Munch’s The Scream providing some terrifying artistic inspiration. No experience is necessary, just express yourself wine glass in one hand and paintbrush in the other. Tickets £37.99. Go tohttps://popuppainting.com and www.thegrazekitchen.co.uk.
