Sales and Tours Co-ordinator
Discover Newmarket is the official tourism body for Newmarket and the surrounding area. Responsible for marketing Newmarket as a key destination for the East of England. It also runs a series of guided tours and experiences, effectively showcasing and raising the profile of the home of horseracing.
Duties for this exciting and challenging role (which is a maternity cover position) are:
To be the one stop shop for all tour enquiries. Dealing with booking enquiries in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner.
Effectively liaise with all tour partners to maintain and develop excellent relations and establish strong partnerships.
Manage the programme of tours, including forward planning ensuring that the booking system and website are kept up to date.
To assist with the development of new tours and effectively promote all guided experiences across a number of platforms.
To attend travel trade shows, organise FAM trips and meet prospective group leaders and operators to encourage forward bookings.
Monitoring tours sales making necessary adjustments to ensure that all tours run at a profit.
To effectively deal with group and private enquiries ensuring that the best possible deal is offered.
To effectively manage the day-to-day organisation of the tour guides and manage the rota.
To deal with all administrative and data management collation relating to the running of the tours programme and provide accurate reports.
To provide all financial tasks relating to the running of our tours including monthly invoicing and raising of purchase orders.
To assist the Manager with any other reasonable tasks to ensure the smooth running of the business.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to negotiate to ensure the best possible outcome.
Highly motivated with an ability to prioritise a varied workload and multi-task.
Strong IT skills Professionally presentable at all times.
Knowledge of the horseracing industry is highly desirable.
Sales and marketing experience is desirable.
Must have driving licence and own vehicle.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary: £28,000
Full Time Maternity Cover: 37.5 hours per week (9 am to 5 pm)
Annual Leave: 28 days including public holidays
Place of Work: Office based position, at the National Horseracing Museum
